Grechetto is best known as part of the blend of DOC Orvieto. It can also be a component in vin santo, made by drying the grapes on straw mats. It provides richness and structure to a blend and is often combined with Chardonnay, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Verdello.

Growing Conditions

Grechetto is a low yielding vine that produces concentrated flavors. It has thick skin giving it good resistence to downy mildew. It ripens late and achieves high levels of sugar.
