If you ask Jake Terrell what drew him to Sequoia Grove Winery, he’ll tell you it’s the chance to steward some of the most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon sites in Napa Valley while advancing regenerative, sustainable viticulture at the highest level.
As Vineyard Director for Sequoia Grove in Rutherford, Jake oversees the farming and long-term development of the winery’s iconic estate vineyards in Rutherford, Yountville, and Mount Veeder. His focus is on producing exceptional, estate-grown fruit while continually improving soil health, biodiversity, and resilience in the face of a changing climate.
Jake graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business and a concentration in Viticulture. A recognized leader in sustainable winegrowing, he helped revise California’s Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices and played a key role in earning multiple sustainability certifications throughout his career.
Jake graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business and a focus on Viticulture. A recognized leader in “green” viticulture, Jake assisted in revising the Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices, which sets standards for sustainable practices in the wine industry and certified St. Francis as a California Sustainable Winery. He is also a home winemaker.
Jake loves variety. Managing day-to-day operations in the vineyards—his dog, Koda, always by his side—Jake’s duties change daily depending on the needs of each vineyard, the weather, and the time of year.
