Sequoia Grove, founded in 1979, is a family-owned winery located on historic Route 29 in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley’s most prestigious Cabernet Sauvignon appellation. For more than 45 years, Sequoia Grove has been recognized for its commitment to crafting award-winning wines that emphasize finesse and balance. Its prized estate vineyards and decades-long relationships with top Napa Valley growers result in some of the finest provenance of any Napa Valley winery.
Sequoia Grove wines are celebrated for their elegance and highly concentrated fruit. They are crafted to express the unique terroir of the Rutherford AVA, itself a celebrated beacon of quality. Here the deep and well-drained alluvial soils, cooling morning fog, and abundant afternoon sunshine create the ideal conditions to produce award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. Many grape varieties thrive here, but it is Rutherford-grown Cabernet Sauvignon that has become famous for producing wines of exceptional flavor and complexity. As legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff asserted, “it takes Rutherford dust to grow great Cabernet.”
Nestled under a grove of majestic and endangered Giant Sequoia trees, Sequoia Grove inhabits a historic barn with more than a century of history in Rutherford. Outside, the Sequoia Grove Estate Vineyard, with its 18 acres of vines, surrounds the property. In 2018 the winery completed a state-of-the-art expansion to the winemaking facility, incorporating even more tanks to closely control its small-lot winemaking style.
