White wine is not only for summertime fun—just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy them with your favorite colder weather foods. If you’ve got a fondue pot or raclette toaster on a shelf in your garage, go dust it off, invite some good friends over, and open a few bottles of delicious, full-bodied white wines. Winter whites also go great with a hearty bowl of white bean chili or even chilled Alaskan king crab legs dipped in drawn butter. Roasted chicken or pork loin cry out for a bold white, and oysters are at their best when enjoyed in a month with the letter R, making January, February, and March prime oyster months so keep a few bottles chilled in the refrigerator (or snow drift) for just this occasion.
Founded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in 1859, Louis Jadot is one of the largest producers in the Cote d’Or with 140 acres in some of the best Burgundian AOCs. Hailing from one of our favorite appellations this Chassagne-Montrachet has aromas of lemon zest, crushed oyster shells, toasted almonds, and orange blossoms. It is well rounded with creamy texture and flavors of yellow peach, flan, and brown baking spices with a nice burst of acidity in the post palate.
