This superb vineyard, acquired in 1993, sited on an amphitheater-like plot near the top of the slop of En la Fée is approximately 85% pinot noir and 15% chardonnay. This vineyard yields both a seductive red and a unique, earthy white wine.
2023 was a hot and dry growing season which was saved by significant rain in June. This allowed the vines to withstand summer heat and drought and led to ideal sanitary conditions and a modest yield yet concentrated vintage.
Tasting Note
Clos de Malte white is typically a more linear-structured wine with nice tension and energy, little initial creaminess, and with a framework ideal for aging. After just a few years one senses the presence of these stony (limestone) soils, supported by hints of citrus skin and grapefruit pith plus a delicate roasted nut grace note.

Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
