Located in Santenay, in the southern Côte de Beaune, Clos de Malte is a 17 acres monopole of Louis Jadot that lies at the foot of the Montagne des Troix Croix. It is planted primarily to Pinot Noir on moist soil of limestone and clay, but there is also a small amount of Chardonnay here. In winemaking, the Chardonnay grapes are fermented and matured in oak barrels for about 12 months.
This lemon-scented and woody wine is rich and structured, yet elegant. It will develop in the bottle for 5 to 10 years.
