Harvest Note
The 2018 season began with a winter with mild temperatures and rainfall close to 320 mm in Apalta and no more than 150 mm in Marchigue. Irrigation began later in the season thanks to a cool, rainy spring, which allowed us to reserve water for the summer period. In the Colchagua Valley, the summer was dry, without rains that could harm the health of the grapes, and warm but not excessively warm that could damage the vines or grapes. Thanks to conditions of controlled hydric stress between fruit set and pint, the size of the berries was limited, achieving a good skin-to-pulp ratio, which allowed to obtain an extraordinary color, concentration, rich tannins and very good aromas. For the red harvest, the weather was tremendously favorable, although we expected early harvests, the months of March and April were cool, which brought the phenological stages to perfection, allowing a harvest without problems, in addition, there were no rain events which It allowed waiting for full phenolic maturity without the presence of diseases that affect the quality of the wine. In short, it was not a year with damaging weather events, so the health and quality of the grapes gave us clean musts with great potential. In the Colchagua Valley, maturity was reached without delay.
