Perrières, named in reference to the stony "mother rock" lying very near the surface, produces wines which are among the most highly sought-after of all Burgundy whites. This terroir is situated just below the crest of the slope and South of the village in the direction of Puligny. The soils consist of light clay and fractured limestone, with ideal Southeast exposure. Chardonnay is harvested by hand and brought to the winery in Beaune for triage, destemming, and initial fermentation and transfer to oak casks. Malolactic fermentation is managed according to the nature of the vintage to retain freshness and vibrancy.

Harvest Note
2023 was a hot and dry growing season which was saved by significant rain in June. This allowed the vines to withstand summer heat and drought and led to ideal sanitary conditions and a modest yield yet concentrated vintage.
Tasting Note
This white maintains a coiled tension and powerful bold structure. As complex aromas of white flowers, citrus skin, and wet stony earth lead, the ripe fruit and tangy acidity emerge on the palate to lend structure and energy over the long finish. Oak plays a supporting role and recedes over time as nuances of hazelnut and lemon curd emerge.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
