This Jadot white Grand Cru is produced from chardonnay vines on the upper slope parcel of Corton-Pougets. Steeply sloped and facing due South, this site is perfect for producing completely ripe chardonnay grapes year after year. Jadot has farmed this site for over 100 years and developed a high level of expertise here.

Harvest Note
The 2021 vintage was memorable for the extreme challenges it posed to growers. The defining event was a hard freeze in April which lasted several days, and the subsequent dramatic reduction in harvest volumes. Added to this were cool and wet summer conditions which required constant vigilance. The delayed harvest eventually yielded tiny volumes of pristine grapes which express a vibrant and energetic purity.
Tasting Note
Full-bodied and robust yet at the same time ethereal and nearly weightless, this is the essence of fine Burgundy. Lemony with white flowers and brioche aromas, followed by palate-coating opulence and supported by framing acidity.
Food Pairing
With maturity this is capable of matching the most refined and subtle cuisine. Particularly ideal with shellfish yet equally perfect with chicken in lemon-butter or ripe cheeses and almonds.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
