This one acre parcel was acquired by Andre Gagey in 1992. Clos St. Denis is the smallest of the Grand Crus in this village, and is renowned for robust and structured wines which age well and develop delicate and charming nuances. Soils here are deep red clay with large and small stones, on a slope facing Southeast.

Harvest Note
Winter and early Spring were unusually warm and dry however March brought much-needed rainfall which led to homogenous flowering in May. Stormy weather in June was followed by mild late summer, and an unusual September heat wave. Harvest was finished on September 16th, and by picking only in the cool morning hours freshness was preserved.
Tasting Note
This wine begins with dark berry fruit notes along with tobacco and earth nuances across a firm yet broad structure. With air or time more floral essence appears as the texture refines and lengthens.
