In the commune of Aloxe-Corton, in the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, more than half of the vineyard area is Grand Cru vineyards. Les Grèves is a powerful wine with a structure similar to that of Côte de Nuits wines. The southeast exposure and siliceous soil gives power and delicacy to the wine. Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, then the wine is matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Powerful yet delicate, this deeply colored wine has aromas and flavors of red berries and spice, with silky tannins and perfect structure. It should develop for five years in the bottle before being opened, and will improve for 15 to 20 years of cellaring.
