Wine and Spirits Importer Kobrand Corporation made the short list of nominees for Wine Enthusiast’s “Importer of the Year” category for its 2012 Wine Star Awards. A leading trade publication, Wine Enthusiast established its “Wine Star Awards” in 1999 to honor outstanding achievement in the wine and spirits industry. Winners will be officially announced in New York on January 28, 2013.
In the nomination press announcement, Wine Enthusiast editors singled out Kobrand for its stellar portfolio of “over 40 of the world’s finest wineries, including such notables as Taittinger (Champagne), Tenuta San Guido (Tuscany) and Maison Louis Jadot (Burgundy).”
Kobrand CEO and President Bob T. DeRoose praised the nomination, “Quality has been our founding cornerstone since we opened our doors in 1944; quality of product, quality of people and quality of relationships.” He elaborated, “This nomination honors our suppliers, winemaking and vineyard management teams, our employees, our distributor partners, our retail partners and the founding principles of our founder Rudy Kopf; as well as his family’s continuation of his legacy now in its 68th year. It’s a privilege to be nominated alongside other pioneering importers in the United States that we respect so very much.” These other nominees include: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Old Bridge Cellars, Precept Wine and The Other Wine and Spirits LLC (OWS).
