In 2004, Sassicaia’s Piero Incisa della Rocchetta bought pinot noir vineyards planted in 1932 (treinta y dos) in Argentina’s Rio Negro Valley and set up Bodega Chacra, later buying and planting more. His spectacular pinots show there’s more to Argentina’s excellent red wines than bold, bright malbecs. James Suckling reviews five top vintages of Bodega Chacra Pinot Noir Patagonia, including two without sulfur (sin azufre).
Barda 2015
A fantastic red with ginger, dried strawberry, wet earth and fresh leather aromas and flavours. Full body, silky tannins and a fantastic finish. Superb. Best Barda ever.
