Vino Italiano – a series bringing you some of the best wines from around Italy – last left us in Piemonte. Today, we’ll enjoy another white wine, this one made in Toscana: 2022 Vermentino produced & bottled by Tenuta Campo al Mare (Greve in Chianti, Italia).
The wine showed a light yellow color. Apple, lemon, peach and honeydew melon all arrived on the nose. Apple, peach, lemon curd and melon were the headliners on a ripe and tropical palate followed by hints of mango. The wine exhibited racy acidity and good minerality. It was light-bodied and demonstrated good length. This wine would do well as an aperitivo or paired alongside a traditional Tuscan seafood dish – Baccalà in Umido (fried salt cod simmered in tomato sauce).
