- A delicately sweet, fruity nose and crisp citrus finish make Shades a perfect complement to a wide variety of dishes, including spicy and ethnic foods.
- The grapes are predominately grown in steep vineyards on the hills surrounding the Mosel River. These steep vineyards have soils that are comprised primarily of slate, which give wine a distinct mineral note, characteristic of the region.
- The rolling hills of clay and limestone soils complement the wine with rounded flavors and an added weight to the blend.
Shades is an affordable luxury for everyday celebrations, crafted from Riesling grapes sourced from Germany’s dynamic Rheinhessen region. The wines from these regions are generally lighter in alcohol and easy to drink, fresh, fruity and lightly sweet. Harvest generally takes place in late fall, ensuring the grapes have a long time to reach optimal ripeness. After harvest, the grapes are pressed and fermented slowly in temperature-controlled tanks, which preserves the delicate fruit. Following fermentation, the wines are kept in stainless steel tanks and bottled right away; they are ready to drink when young. Before opening Shades, please chill 49-55° to ensure optimal enjoyment.
