Vouvray (pronounced voo-vray) is an appellation in the Loire Valley of France that specializes in Chenin Blanc. Jacques Dumont grapes grow in clay-limestone and clay-siliceous soils on a layer of tuffeau, a locally chalky limestone used to build the numerous castles that dot the Loire River. These grapes undergo direct pressing and low-temperature fermentation. The wine is an ideal expression of Chenin Blanc with bright acidity, delicate fruit and floral notes, and classic minerality.
