Fruit for this Pinot Noir is sourced from Russian River Valley. The vineyards here experience marine influence from the ocean as cool air, fog and wind rolls in at night during the summer, dropping temperatures. This natural air-conditioning is ideal for Pinot Noir, allowing the grapes to develop flavor while retaining acidity. To capture the characteristics of Russian River fruit, lots are fermented separately in open top tanks with a 5-10 day cold soak to extract color and flavor. After a long fermentation the wine is racked off into French Oak barrels, 33% new, where it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation followed by aging for 11 months before blending and bottling.
