Moderate amounts of wood and menthol surround the nicely spiced aromas of red and dark raspberry that display a floral top note. There is impressive density to the delicious and more elegant medium weight plus flavors that terminate in a very compact, powerful and beautifully long finish.

The rich, moderately concentrated and suave flavors possess solid power while exhibiting excellent length on the firm structured, serious and dusty finish that flashes plenty of grip.

The 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) lives up to its fine showing in barrel, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, red berries and licorice mingled with hints of violets and warm spices. Full-bodied, layered and seamless, with a deep core of fruit, velvety tannins and succulent acids, it’s elegant and complete, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. This has turned out beautifully.

Though well-marked by toasty oak, this red has a gracefulness about it, revealing aromas of black cherry and black pepper, followed by notes of black cherry, earth, oak spice and licorice. It combines grace and intensity, with fine harmony and a lingering aftertaste of fruit, spice and earth.

Jadot’s vines on this east-facing slope produced a potent and
succulent 2018, surprisingly accessible and fruit-forward as a young grand cru. The ripe fruit has the richness of a red-skinned peach, bosky and delicious.
