Plum, cherry, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors are embraced by vanilla and toasty oak notes in this ripe, solidly built red. There are still assertive tannins hanging around on the finish, where fruit and sweet spice details converge, with ample fruit for balance

Dedicated to founder Giovanni Folonari, the Tenuta di Nozzole 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione (with only 3,000 bottles produced) also shows indelible signs of a hot vintage with scorched earth and roasted almond husk. You get dark and richly concentrated fruit along with the spicy and tarry smoke that comes with 30 months of oak aging in large oak cask. The wine offers a big profile and medium-rich fruit weight.

Ripe dark cherries, wild berries, toasted spices, walnuts, iron and a savory touch on the nose. The full-bodied palate is dense and compact, with very fine tannins and precise acidity. Broad and lingering, with balance and detail. Very well made.

This is luscious and rich on the nose, with red and dark berries, dried flowers, cocoa and wet stones. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and polished, with a dusty texture to its tannins. Smooth and supple at the end, with good focus and length

Sweet berries, walnuts, mahogany and sweet tobacco on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Tangy acidity.
