The 2023 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin opens with aromas of kirsch, chocolate, dried rose petals and toasted oak spice. The palate reveals a sappy concentration of fruit, with a broad-shouldered attack that leans out into an incisive, vertical progression, commanded by its many smooth but compact tannins.

The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin opens in the glass with notes of blackberry jam, prunes, licorice, sage, forest floor and oak spice. Medium to full-bodied, the wine boasts a generous concentration of fruit upheld by a firm structure of powdery but abundant tannins.

The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin delivers expressive aromas of wild berries, black cherries, mandarin rind, dried thyme and sage, cacao powder and candied ginger. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, with a concentrated core of fruit underpinned by sturdy but fine-grained tannins. It’s youthfully firm and powerful but not overly assertive.

Meaty and smoky undertones to this rich and full-bodied Moulin-a-Vent. Swathes of dark berry fruit, mocha and spice box are wrapped up in firm and chalky tannins. Long and powerful
