Round and mouthcoating, with a tug of tar and earth behind red currant and wild herbs. Hints of mocha and espresso add to the depth, with mesquite smoke hovering throughout. There’s nice length to the salty close.

The 2023 Moulin-à-Vent is more forward and cherry-flavored than the Morgon, featuring notes of maraschino and Morello cherries, though perhaps this doesn’t have the same degree of complexity. The palate is ripe on the entry, quite sweet and fleshy…

A well-made, dense and flavorful red with red cherries, red berries and warm spices on the nose, following through to a medium body with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Lively and peppery, with a vibrant and persistent finish. Drink or hold.

Reserved aromas of grilled meat, red currant, black plum, black olive and dried red cherry open on the nose. A chalky palate dusted with graphite shavings is supported by grippy tannins.

This very dark ruby colored Gamay from the Moulin-à-Vent commune opens with a potting soil and raspberry bouquet with hints of violet and a touch of banana. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, voluptuous, generous, and very bright. The flavor profile is a red currant and loam blend with notes tart cherry and oolong tea. I also did detect some hints of red plum and banana in the aftertaste. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity are nicely extended.
