The 2022 Pinot Noir Founder’s Blocks comes from Yamhill-Carlton and is a youthful ruby/magenta hue. Deeper notes of sappy herbs, black raspberries, tea leaves, and sweet turned earth are followed by a medium-bodied, ripe, and structured red with broader shoulders and an earthy feel. With ripe, grippy tannins and a grounded feel (although not heavy), it’s a more serious expression and is going to drink well over the coming 15 years.
Deeply structured and a bit brooding right now, this red offers precise blueberry and cherry flavors that are accented by forest floor, black tea and crushed stone notes as this gathers tension toward medium-grained tannins.
The 2021 Pinot Noir Founder’s Blocks blossoms in the glass with black cherry and strawberry depths lifted by hints of mint and clove. Mineral in style, this sweeps across the palate with a sultry blend of tart wild berries and brisk acidity complicated by savory herbs. The 2021 finishes long and structured, nearly salty in character, with crunchy blackberry and a tart twang of sour citrus.
