The 2022 Hermitage La Maison Bleue is another bright, juicy, focused wine from Frey. Black raspberries, hints of cassis, leather, rose, and peppery notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a pure, elegant profile, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It’s not massive by any means, but it has beautiful finesse and elegance.

The 2021 Hermitage La Maison Bleue comes from the eastern side of the hill (more limestone and loess soils). It has a vibrant, medium-bodied, red-fruited profile as well as medium-bodied richness, supple, elegant tannins, and a seamless mouthfeel, with some classic Hermitage leather, pepper, and rose petal nuances. I love its overall balance, and this is an Hermitage that will hit prime time with just 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following decade.

The polished 2021 Hermitage La Maison Bleue enters the stage with bright red cherry, red plum, white pepper and cedar. Rose petal and violets add a floral lift. Modestly concentrated yet elegant, it is gently framed by ripe tannins anddelivers good freshness on the clean finish.
