The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Les Pierrelles starts with intense graphite, licorice, black cherry and cedar wood notes. Elegant and classic, the medium-bodied 2022 is a distinctively refined Côte-Rôtie, mingling solid flavor concentration and ample freshness.
In spite of its richness and concentration, this is a very suave and elegant Cote-Rotie. A wealth of juicy blackberry aromas fills out the beautifully balanced, medium- to full-bodied palate. Notes of pomegranates and black olives develop as this youthful beauty opens up.
The oak sticks out a little, adding cedar, brown sugar and maple syrup notes to raspberries and hickory smoke on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied and supple, turning a bit drying and woody on the finish.
All from the Bercheries lieu-dit, in the southern part of the appellation and just above Masion-Rouge, the 2022 Côte Rôtie Les Pierrelles (100% Syrah) has a deeper ruby/purple hue as well as a perfumed, floral nose of red and blue fruits, smoked earth, violets, and a kiss of game. It’s balanced, medium-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, and outstanding length.
Very refined nose of blue and black berries with some bacon fat, spice and candied orange. A tightly structured Cote-Rotie, this has been built to last. Some may find it a bit challenging on release, but we love the generous, fine-grained tannins that build impressively at the imposing and firm finish
