Its ripe black cherry, pencil shaving, crushed violet and cedar aromas introduce it. Full-bodied, savory and structured, the 2022 is a very good Cornas, closing with afterglow on the complex finish.
A breathtaking Cornas! At first there are aromas of pepper, flint and graphite, but as it aerates the elderberry fruit expands and expands. Hardcore stone minerality and energetic tannins plus a wealth of fruit give it terrific tension.
From the highest-altitude parcel owned by Jaboulet and almost always the last to be picked, the 2020 Cornas Domaine de Saint Pierre is marked by scents of cedar, red plums and red raspberries. It’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated but not overly tannic.
Another outstanding wine from this team, the 2021 Cornas Domaine De Saint Pierre comes from higher elevation sites in Cornas (400 meters in elevation) and has a medium-bodied, juicy, elegant profile as well as ample darker black cherry and peppery, herbal nuances. It’s an impeccably made, successful 2021 that has fine tannins and outstanding length. Drink bottles over the coming decade.
Purple fruits, black cherries, roasted herbs, graphite, and smoke all emerge from the 2022 Cornas Domaine De Saint Pierre, another medium-bodied, pure, beautifully balanced Cornas that has the classic wildness and exotic character of the appellation yet plays in the more finesse-driven, Burgundian style of this domaine.
