


The wine’s fruitiness is impressive. Generous black fruits show well against the background of major tannins and a solid, dry structure.


Based on fruit from Quinta do Retiro Novo in the Rio Torto valley, the blend is a dark, savory beauty, the flavors concentrated into a black kernel of fruit wrapped tightly in cocoa-powder tannins. Port collectors would do well to get on board now with an early vintage of Krohn under David Guimaraens’s care.


A strapping young stud of a Port, with a wall of licorice snap– and tar-laced grip holding a massive core of Black Mission fig, plum, açaí berry and blackberry paste flavors at bay for now. Notes of alder, espresso and sweet tobacco flash through.
