A heady perfume of rose envelops fresh red cherry, raspberry, and white mushroom. The palate is more complex, bringing white pepper, sanguine edges, and river rock minerality. Tannins integrate seamlessly while acidity pulls layers into focus. Equally enjoyable now or built for cellaring, this wine shows elegance and persistence, carrying its floral core into a lingering, mineral-driven finish.
This is an atypical Vaucrains in the sense where the extremely pretty nose of black cherry violet and a plentitude of spice elements is not only expressive but perfumed, something that in my experience is highly unusual at this early stage! The palate impression is also somewhat unusual in the texture is gorgeous and relatively supple on though the firm, powerful and imposing finish reminds you that it’s still a Vaucrains after all. Excellent.
