The 2018 Brut Trésor is a vivacious Saumut Brut with Ripe orchard fruit joining bright, fresh lime and toast notes.
The radiant citrus colored 2017 Bouvet Tresor Brut opens with a pure but intense and chalky bouquet of fresh lemon juice, ginger, confit de citron and some very discreet earthy, even manure notes. Full-bodied, quite rich and elegant on the palate, this is a textural and complex yet refined and refreshing sparkling wine from Saumur with a persistent structure, chalkiness and salinity.
Made from 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay, this Saumur Brut sees some oak, but it’s soil, not wood, that
dominates its profile on the nose and palate—all stony
minerality along with fresh honeydew and lemon and
lime zest. An extremely fine bead and soft mousse
put it on the gentle end of the bubbly spectrum, where it could lead you easily from apéritif hour to a seafood course of, say, coquilles Saint Jacques.
This is a rich wine, lightly oak aged while keeping extreme freshness. A toasty edge suggests the bottle age as well as a touch of minerality.
