Peach, lemon and oak spice, plus a hint of briny seashore, mark this fleshy white. Well-structured and balanced, with the persistent finish echoing the citrus and spice notes.

Offering up aromas of white flowers, buttery pastry and pear, the 2024 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and satiny, with a nicely seamless, harmonious profile and good persistence on the finish.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru, picked a little later than the Caillerets, has a surprising fiery quality on the nose, something almost uncontained about the aromatics, perhaps just missing a bit of mineralité. The palate is much better with a lovely caressing texture and perfectly pitched acidity. The oak feels very harmonious on the finish. After five minutes, the aromatics do cohere and calm down, and it should result in a classy La Garenne.

Cool and restrained aromas present notes of green fruit, lemon rind and acacia blossom. There is excellent density to the delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a very powerful and impressively persistent finish. This is terrific.
