Enticing notes of bilberry and black currant mark this supple red. Juicy and well-delineated, with violet, graphite and spice flavors adding depth and complexity. Its innate harmony only adds to its appeal. Terrific length.

The 2024 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey) has turned out nicely, bursting with notes of peonies, orange zest and spices, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, supple and melting palate that’s suave and sapid. This well-drained terroir has performed well this year.

At first reduced, with earthy tones, this wine demands patience. With air, a bouquet of pure red cherry, rose, white pepper, and wild thyme emerges in captivating harmony. The palate layers soft strawberry, oak spice, and violet with finesse. Cellar-worthy yet expressive now with proper aeration, this is a sophisticated, graceful expression of restrained power and unfolding beauty.

Rich and refined, this is an aristocratic wine for Nuits-Saint-Georges. Needs a bit of air to open up, but then the dark cherry and fresh plum are augmented by a rooty touch. Full-bodied, but with lovely delicacy on the silky palate. The finish has so many delicate spice and earth nuances.

A much spicier and more elegant nose is comprised by notes of plum, sandalwood and dark raspberry. The medium weight plus flavors possess a caressing yet powerful mouthfeel where the intensity really builds on the palate coating, muscular and firm finale.
