This red offers the weight and feel of a grand cru, featuring floral, cherry, strawberry, sandalwood and vanilla aromas and flavors. Builds in intensity, with a silky feel, superb energy and presence midpalate.

The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses (Domaine Louis Jadot) wafts from the glass with exotic aromas of peonies, rose petals and spices mingled with notions of raspberries and ripe peaches. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and pure, it’s bright, racy and melting, concluding with a sapid finish.

The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has quite a hefty reduction on the nose, though like in some other years I find it does not deliver the complexity of the Bonnes-Mares by direct comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Quite linear in style, this is built around quite peppery red fruit with just a touch of curry leaf towards the finish. Relatively forward for an Amoureuses, it should give up to 20 years’ drinking pleasure and drink after a couple.
