An elegant and admirably pure nose possesses notes of poached plum, black cherry and a lovely array of floral elements. The supple and relatively forward medium-bodied flavors exhibit fine underlying tension that carries over to the detailed, stony and saline-inflected finish.
The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, and very harmonious, the fine acidity counterbalancing the precocity. Silky in texture, revealing gorgeous dark plum and boysenberry notes toward the persistent finish. Excellent.
A site just below the village with heavier clay soils, which have delivered a very fleshy palate with roundness and richness on the palate.
Here too there is a moderate amount of wood/menthol influence on the more elegant and airier aromas that are also composed by essence of various red berries, lavender and a lovely floral hint. The refined and lacy, even lilting mid-palate of the middle weight flavors also contrasts somewhat with the firm and lingering finish that stops short of rusticity.
