An opulent, eloquent style up front, boasting cherry, raspberry, rose and earth flavors. Dense, pointed tannins emerge midpalate and dominate the finish. All of the components are there, yet this red needs to integrate.

There are only two barrels of the 2024 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot), a medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and layered red that’s one of the deeper, richer cuvées in the cellar. Offering up notes of sweet red berries, rose petals and cassis, it shows good concentration and ripeness despite the year.

Represented by two casks this year, the 2024 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet with a mixture of red and blue fruit, exquisite delineation and focus, one of my favourite amongst Jadot’s reds. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, velvety smooth, the acidity maintaining tension. The finish is actually quite Musigny-like in terms of structure, gentle but insistent in grip with impressive sustain on the aftertaste. Superb.

For all its depth and power, its finesse is what makes this wine memorable. Fresh, without a hint of fatigue, this Bonnes Mares is developing beautifully.
