The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has more red fruit on the nose, a little bolder than the Lavaux, cassis and pressed violets, just a hint of leather. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip. Fine weight, this is well balanced with good delineation, perhaps more understated than recent solar vintages, yet it feels reassuringly prolonged on the aftertaste and delivers the sapidity to beckon you back for more.

The tension between dark fruit and profound earthy minerality is what makes this pinot noir a masterpiece. Excellent, ripe sour-cherry aroma and stunning vitality on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Great drive in the very long, beautifully balanced finish.

I love the fragrant aromas of red fruits, candied orange peel and wet earth of this impressive Gevrey-Chambertin. Ripe in the 2021 context, but with the typical delicacy of the vintage. Long, well-structured, yet elegant finish. From a parcel just above the Clos Saint-Jacques.

The expansive nose of fresh black cherry and dry earth leads you into this very compact and concentrated Gevrey-Chambertin, which has the scale and gravitas of a Grand Cru, as well as massive tannin structure. This youthful form might be too much for some, but if you have a little patience, this is going to be a magnificent drinking experience. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.
