Walnut husk, black cherry paste and black tea notes meld nicely, with underlying cut and tension to offset the sweetness. Delicious.

Fresh and bright in feel, with a nice mix of kirsch and plum notes, lined with a red licorice hint and backed by red teak and hazelnut husk accents

The bottle of the NV 10 Year Old Tawny Porto from Fonseca I tasted didn’t show the bottling year on the back label, but it must have been a recent one. It has a dark reddish color with some browning around the edges and a nuanced nose of berries in liqueur and some sweet spices. The wine is round, polished and quite sweet, and it feels young and unevolved but very pleasant, balanced and precise.

There is an attractive flash of wood aging in this tawny Port. That gives elegance as well as density. It has a nutty aroma that enhances the wine’s spice. Drink now.
