The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino impresses with a perfumed blend of fresh blackberries enshrouded in an air of violets, lavender and crushed stone. This is supple and soothing upon the palate, with floral-laced red and black fruit underscored by a core of saline-minerality. The 2018 lingers impossibly long with a staining of primary concentration and gently grippy tannins while maintaining a marvelous fresh persona. The balance here is quite stunning.
An intense red, with saturated flavors of blackberry and plum shaded by earth, eucalyptus and mineral notes.
A mix of cherry, plum, leather, earth and iron flavors mark this red. Starts out rich and supple in texture, then the assertive tannins sweep in midpalate through the finish. Finds a good balance in the end and finishes long.
Aromas of French oak, menthol and dark spice form the nose. Full bodied and linear, the palate features licorice, vanilla, cherries marinated in spirits and coffee bean alongside tightly wound, close-grained tannins that grip the lean finish.
