The wine has a core of blackened fruit with plum and cooked blackberry, but it also shows varietal hints of Sangiovese, with pressed rose and sweet potting soil. It finishes with medium texture, some fruity freshness and more black fruit flavors.
The 2024 Crognolo is a very pretty, nuanced wine that exalts the freshness of Sangiovese, with a dollop of Merlot that fills out the mid-palate. Crushed red berry fruit, chalk, mint and dried herbs are finely sculpted throughout. This svelte, racy red is all charm. The blend is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot.
The 2022 Crognolo is a fine entry-level offering from Sette Ponti. Dark, vibrant and persistent, the 2022 races across the palate with dark-fleshed fruit, chocolate, licorice, cloves, menthol and licorice. I especially admire its energy. Grippy tannins support the finish nicely.

This wine displays depth and polish, revealing freshness and focus with a core of vivid red and dark fruits layered with wild herbs, violets, spices and hints of cedar and graphite. It’s firm and crunchy yet bright and juicy on the finish. Focused and balanced overall.
