The certified organic 2020 Sicilia Saia is all Nero d’Avola from one of the prettiest parts of rural Sicily in Noto. This red wine shows medium concentration with dark fruit, ripe cherry, black olive and sweet earthy tones. It is richly textured and ends with soft, sweet tannins.
Candied violet and spice aromatics on the nose accent flavors of black raspberry preserves, red licorice, fig cake and loamy earth in this fresh, fragrant and medium- to full-bodied red. Fine-grained tannins emerge to firm the finish.
A super elegant nero d’avola, offering clear cherries and berries, together with hints of mediterranean herbs and a twinge of dried orange peel. Medium-to full-bodied, silky and refined with lightly firm tannins and a long, well-balanced finish.
Ripe plums, blackberries, mint and peppery florals waft up from the 2016 Nero d’Avola Saia. It’s soft with enveloping textures offset by mineral-tinged black fruits and hints of grippy tannin that mount toward the close. This tapers off lightly structured with a staining of blackberries, spice and hints of tobacco.
The 2018 Nero d’Avola Saia is dark and rich with sweet herbs, tobacco and balsamic spice giving way to ripe plums. Its fleshy textures envelope the palate in an intense wave of ripe black fruits, balanced by brisk acids and saline-mineral tones that add a more grippy feel toward the close. Notes of sage and blackberries linger long through the finale, over a coating of round tannins.
