A blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, the 2019 Brut Saphir has an intense and assertive mousse. It fills the mouth while the texture is light and airy. With additional time on lees compared with the straight Crémant styles, there’s an added layer of complexity and autolytis-derived pastry richness alongside freshly cooked apple fruit.
The wine exhibits a radiant citrus color along with delicate bread and pure chalk and lemon aromas that come along pretty expressive after some minutes in the glass. It is round and fruity on the palate yet also firm and mineral, with a chalky/lemony expression that is balanced by roundness (from the dosage).
Fresh, round and expressing crisp apple fruit; smooth, bright and juicy with elegance and finesse; long and tangy.
This fragrant wine is ripe with hazelnut and peach flavors. Crisply textured, the wine is balanced, taut, mineral and still young. Its tightness suggests the aging potential while also hinting at the wine’s inherent fruitiness.
