A blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2018 Il Borgo is a renewed wine with this vintage. Past editions saw a blend of mostly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon in a supporting role. This release is softer on the mid-palate with darkly extracted fruit. The wine reveals dark cherry, spice and hints of bittersweet chocolate that give it a very contemporary, accessible personality. Fruit is sourced from across 40 hectares of vine.

Deep and layered, this wine presents dark cherries, plum skins, licorice and iodine, along with hints of balsamic and an earthy, mushroom-like undertone. It is structured and persistent, featuring ripe yet compact tannins and succulent fruit. The full body boasts a velvety texture throughout, culminating in a long, balanced and complex finish.

A restrained and subtle wine with candied lemon, melon and slightly floral aromas. The attack is dry and silky with weight, a medium body and long, crisp acidity reminiscent of orange blossoms. Tense aftertaste. Drink or hold.

Rich and waxy nose of candied peaches, dried pineapple, honeysuckle and hints of caramel and nuts. Compact and focused, with a medium to full body and creamy texture. Racy and spicy, ending with a lingering, slightly phenolic aftertaste

A scented nose with dark cherries, spiced plums, baking spices, dried herbs and some dried flowers. Medium to full body with fine tannins. Well-balanced and harmonious. Dense and focused yet ample and expansive. Lively finish with a peppery lift
