This is a discrete white Burgundy from an historic terroir facing the hill of Corton. Entirely contained within the larger vineyard called En Caradeux, the Clos de la Croix de Pierre has been a Jadot mainstay for generations. This vineyard is on a moderate slope with orientation to the East / Northeast. This white is grown at the top of the slope on thin light soils. This section is classified as Villages while the lower red wine section is Premier Cru. As a lesser-known wine, and with a complicated name, this offers a strong value proposition and a delightful discovery. Chardonnay here is managed in the exact same manner as for the more famous appellations.

Harvest Note
2023 was a hot and dry growing season which was saved by significant rain in June. This allowed the vines to withstand summer heat and drought and led to ideal sanitary conditions and a modest yield yet concentrated vintage.

About the Grape

Chardonnay
Though it has a distinctive profile, Chardonnay reflects other factors such as soil composition and vinification technique. Chardonnay is a reliable, hardy and prolific vine whose only real vulnerabilities are frost and uneven development of fruit.
