The commune of Savigny-lès-Beaune is in the north of the Côte de Beaune and produces 90% red wines. Les Vergelesses is located on the sloping hillside of Bois Noël, near the Pernand vineyards, facing south on light, well-draining soils. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for 12 to 15 months before bottling.
This is one of the strongest reds of Savigny, with aromas and flavors of red berries and elegant tannins. It will develop in the bottle for 8 to 12 years.
