Armagnac grapes are grown in the region designated Armagnac, located south of the Bordeaux region in France. The two most significant subregions of Armagnac where fruit for Larressingle Armagnac is grown are Bas Armagnac and Ténarèze.
Bas Armagnac refers to the lower altitude (bas) subregion where the highest-quality producers are located in the northwest. Here, the soil is sandy with small clay particles and high iron content, which results in supple spirits. The soil in Ténarèze is composed of clay and limestone, which produces fruit that makes firmer spirits with longer aging potential.
