The third release of this wine shows blackcurrants, mint, spearmint, iodine, graphite and mussel shells. Medium- to full-bodied with very integrated tannins that are fine and super polished and that go on for minutes. Reserved and focused with a silky texture. An upgrade to this wine with the addition of 2.5% cabernet franc and 2.5% petite verdot to the cabernet sauvignon.
The finesse and complexity is impressive here, with blackcurrants, lavender and sandalwood, not to mention violets and white roses. Just a hint of tar. Medium- to full-bodied with round yet tight tannins that build on the palate. The most elegant yet structured M I have tasted. Best ever?
Terrific aromas of black fruit and blackcurrants with dried spices such as thyme, rosemary and oregano. Notes of dried figs, tomato leaves and blackberry leaves. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that are polished and so attractive. Refined and caressing in the finish. Structured tannins at the end. Very drinkable and enjoyable now.
Wild strawberries and raspberries lead the way on the nose, with sharp, savory notes of flint, soil and pepper providing balance. Those sanguine, peppery notes take center state on the palate, before a fresh, saline finish. Acid dances among a tangle of slippery tannins
Grapes come from vines that grow on the hillside of Apalta. This is a Carménère with a ripe character and lovely acidity. Aromas of berry jam join cinnamon, nutmeg and peppercorn on the nose. The palate is silky and fruity, with nice notes of cranberry sauce and red plum. Sweet spices add an extra layer of flavor
