A fresh, off-dry Champagne with a round texture and an easy finish. Medium body. Creamy. Cooked apples and pears. Some candied apple, too. Flavorful finish. Five years on the lees. It is more like a Extra-Sec Champagne with a higher dosage that the normal Brut Reserve non-vintage. Drink now.
A restrained, indeed all-but-inexpressive nose only grudgingly reveals notes of yeast and apple with background floral whispers. There is actually pretty good complexity to the delicious if very round flavors that finish drier than the dosage level would suggest though the operative word is drier, not dry.
The wine offers up a lovely nose of nectarine, bread dough, chalky soil tones, dried flowers and just a whisper of smokiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is focused, full-bodied and zesty, with a fine core, a lovely girdle of acidity to carry the additional dosage and impressive length and grip on the very well-balanced finish.
