A very sophisticated Chassagne-Montrachet. So many nuances of white fruit and jasmine. Ripe and rich, but very elegant, with a suave and supple texture that makes it glide over your palate.

A beautifully layered nose exhibits good floral and citrus rind nuances on the ripe poached pear, white peach and apple scents.

The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle (Duc de Magenta) is showing nicely from bottle, unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, crisp yellow orchard fruit, fresh apricot, pastry cream and toasted macadamia nut. This is medium to full-bodied, tangy and tightly wound, with racy acids and a phenolic finish.

This is a classical Chassagne, with scents of white roses, orange blossoms and green tea. Jason Jacobeit of
NYC’s Bâtard and Somm Cellars described its generous suppleness as “a deep belly of fruit, with good lift and purity to it—mouthwatering Morgeot.”

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle (Duc de Magenta) is another success, mingling notes of white flowers and pear with hints of orange oil, buttered toast and clear honey. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it’s deep and complete, with fine concentration and bright balancing acids.
