Smoky aromas blend notes of citrus confit and exotic fruit nuances that include passion fruit and white peach. The moderately dense, intense and better detailed middle weight flavors exude more evident minerality on the linear and slightly learn finish.

Aromas of pear, white flowers, pastry cream and vanilla pod preface the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, bright and enveloping wine that’s charming and precise.

The palate is well balanced with a peachy opening. Good weight and certainly very concentrated. Grippy toward the finish, with touches of peach and pineapple lingering in the mouth. Fine.

Here too there is a subtle suggestion of the exotic with both yellow and white orchard fruit aromas that are sprinkled with hints of petrol, resin and citrus confit. As is usually the case, this isn’t quite as big and muscular as the Chapelle and Abbaye though it is notably more mineral-driven and particularly so on the sleek, delicious, balanced and sneaky long finale that is also quite tightly wound. Good stuff.
