A deep well of black cherry, blackberry, spice, sandalwood and floral aromas and flavors are alluring in this suave red. Fresh and harmonious, in a youthfully exuberant way, ending with a cascade of complex flavors and vibrant acidity.
Shows vivid aromas of strawberries and flowers that follow through to a medium to full body with a tight and polished-tannin texture and a long, flavorful finish. This is the last year for this wine for a while, as the vineyard is being replanted.
This has an attractive, perfumed, quite floral bouquet, scents of wilted violet petals infusing the red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, nicely weight in the mouth and more density and matière on the finish. Very fine.
The 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens (Domaine Louis Jadot) offers up aromas of sweet cherries, espresso roast and rich soil tones. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with moderate concentration and chalky structuring tannins.
The wine is properly reserved out of the blocks, but shows the elegant veneer of 2016 in its fine bouquet of cherries, red plums, incipient notes of venison, lovely spice tones, woodsmoke and a gentle framing of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full and nicely transparent, with a superb core of fruit, fine-grained tannins and a long, vibrant and nascently complex finish.
