The 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine is the last rendition of this cuvée, and it has turned out very well, offering up aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, warm spices and orange rind. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with an open-knit but nicely delineated profile, concluding with a stony finish.

A more deeply pitched nose flashes notes of plum, dark currant and plenty of wood influence. There is at once more volume and more power if not more minerality to the medium-bodied and mouth coating flavors that possess evident muscularity on dusty, firm and well-balanced finish.

The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine has an attractive bouquet with scents of mulberry, blackcurrant, wild mint and a touch of orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very focused and poised on the entry.

Pretty bouquet of sweet red fruit, orange rind, spice and bitter chocolate. Supple, velvety and full, with bright acidity, nice detail and excellent length.

Situated just to the north of the village of Pommard, this eight-acre vineyard has produced a typically structured wine with firm tannins and a dry core. The wine also has the rich black-cherry fruit of the vintage. Together with the wood aging, the wine will develop richly and powerfully.
