More moderate though hardly discreet wood surround the liqueur-like aromas of red raspberry, lilac, warm earth and soft floral scents. The voluminous middle weight flavors possess a pliant, round and relatively seductive mid-palate that contrasts considerably with the powerful, dusty and notably firm finish that delivers outstanding persistence.
Moderately saturated medium red. Complex scents of cherry, clove and minerals. Slightly medicinal but fine-grained and nicely concentrated; ripe acidity and good vinosity give this wine insinuating flavor intensity. Not at all overly extracted.
The 2015 Pommard 1er Cru Epenots has a spicy, quite complex bouquet of red cherries, black plum, kirsch and hints of brown spice, quite involving and certainly a level up from the Grands Epenots. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, crisp and crunchy in the mouth with very fine Pommard expression towards the structured, masculine finish.
Moderately saturated medium red, with a touch of amber at the rim. Rather withdrawn aromas of redcurrant, rust, dried flowers and earth. Supple on entry, then restrained in the middle and a bit dry on the back; not at all a sweet style, and less primary than the best Volnays here. A bit dominated by its tannins today.
Rich and meaty, this red fills the mouth with cherry, plum, smoke and black tea flavors. The tannins are beefy, and this ends with a mix of sweet fruit, earth and iron notes.
